Goal

Scalable started working with Taja AI in 2023. At the time, Taja was a two person team seeing traction and a growing user base with their original product, a YouTube SEO tool for content creators.

The Taja team saw early success acquiring users from product-focused sites like ProductHunt and AppSumo as well as their own SEO efforts. They looked to expand further through sponsored partnerships with influencers, websites, and newsletters, but found these campaigns to be hit-or-miss with limited reach.

Taja engaged Scalable to run targeted performance ad campaigns that offered consistent, predictable user growth with a profitable return on ad spend.

Our Approach

We began by recommending that Taja start with a limited advertising budget and focus on one advertising platform. Our recommendation was to start with video campaigns as video would allow us to clearly communicate the value that Taja offered to YouTube channel owners and content creators. We also recommended starting with Facebook to make the most of our testing budget as we could target individuals who were most similar to Taja’s best customers, users with expired trials, and past site visitors.

Conversion Tracking

We worked with the Taja team to set up robust conversion tracking between Taja’s servers and Facebook Ads. We tracked users who started the checkout process, users who started a free trial, and users who started a paid subscription, reporting all three to Facebook as custom conversion events. Sending these custom events directly from Taja’s servers to Facebook allowed us to see the true performance of every part of our ad campaigns, including the videos, thumbnails, headlines, descriptions, where the ads showed up on Facebook/Instagram, and more. Data-Driven Performance Advertising

We then set up video ad campaigns featuring 30 second & 60 second videos of popular content creators explaining the benefits of Taja and how they’ve grown their own YouTube channels using Taja themselves. Campaign performance started strong upon launch, with the first campaigns generating a consistent profitable return of ~187% even during campaign “learning mode.” We optimized our campaigns every 5-7 days, allocating our advertising budget to the strongest performing ads and placements based on our custom conversion reporting. This allowed to steadily scale our advertising budget while simultaneously increasing the profitability, eventually achieving a return on ad spend greater than 500%.

Conversion Rate Optimization

We also worked with the Taja team to set up retention campaigns using Churnkey. These campaigns would display tailored offers to users who were considering canceling their trials/plans due to difficulties using Taja. We offered users a 3-month discount in exchange for honest feedback about their experience, successfully decreasing cancellations by 13% while gaining valuable insight into opportunities to enhance the product and user experience.
